The computer forensics service of Australia has passed International Standards in Electronic Evidence as determined by the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA).
Given accreditation was the Computer Forensic Team (CFT) of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) for having met all requirements and showed leadership and innovation in this field.
The computer forensics service is now considered an expert in processing electronic evidence for legal purposes. The Australian judicial system and the general public now have more assurance that forensic work done by the agency is reliable and world-class. The CFT assists the police and other organizations in the identification and analysis of electronic evidence found during search warrants as well as data decryption and recovery.
“It’s a great accolade to be the first in both the public and private sector to receive NATA accreditation in the Computer Forensic category,” said Julian Slater, assistant commissioner and national manager of the Forensic and Data Centres, the lead government computer forensics service.
